The Old Church in August 2008

Jeff Bettle, owner and operator of The Old Church Pottery & Gift, located about 5 km north of Minnedosa, is opening for the season.  Jeff says ” new stock is coming out of the kilns daily.  I’ve got cannister sets, mugs, pitchers, butter dishes, and a variety of functional pottery.”    The winter was long and Jeff is looking forward to the spring and the opening.

Jeff’s perspective about people dropping by his shop is about meeting people and finding out about why they are in the area.  ”I enjoy seeing people who are interested in things of substance, who like to pass time at a special place, or who might come to contemplate in my Japanese rock and gravel garden.”

This past winter Jeff has insulated the building.  His studio was insulated and drywalled, and a new furnace was installed.

The Cameron Community Church was built in 1910.  Today, it is The Old Church Pottery and Gift, where travellers can purchase pottery, ice cream, local jams and jellies, paintings, woodwork, and willow furniture.
